Nickelodeon is bringing together some of the most popular stars to honor teens who are helping and leading others. EW can reveal that Kelly Clarkson and Kelsea Ballerini are among the performers joining host, creator, and executive producer Nick Cannon for the network’s annual HALO Awards taking place Sunday, Nov. 26.
The “Helping and Leading Others” concert and ceremony also will honor Clarkson as the HALO Hall of Fame recipient for her work with a wide variety of organizations including XQ Super School; Donor’s Choose Harvey Fund; Miracle on Broadway, an annual concert she created that benefits local Nashville nonprofits; March of Dimes, for which she serves as a celebrity ambassador; and Musicians on Call.
“The incredible work and inspirational stories of the Nickelodeon HALO Awards honorees never cease to amaze me, and continue to show the world that every action counts — no matter how big or small,” Cannon said in a statement. “Kelly Clarkson is this year’s HALO Hall of Fame recipient because she truly embraces this idea. She recognizes the desire in all of us to help where we can and has impacted countless people with her philanthropic contributions.”
Along with Clarkson and Ballerini, the one-hour concert special will feature performances by Hey Violet, Ayo & Teo, Why Don’t We, and Jacob Sartorius. Nick stars like JoJo Siwa (Lip Sync Battle Shorties), Lizzy Greene (Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn), Ricardo Hurtado (School of Rock), and Daniella Perkins and Owen Joyner (Knight Squad) also are set make appearances.
This year’s four HALO honorees come from all corners of the country and are being recognized for making a lasting impact in their community. Zoe Terry, at just 11 years old, started Zoe’s Dolls, an organization that helps other girls feel beautiful and empowered. Raegan Junge, 12, founded Raegan’s Relief Efforts and has raised over $23,000 in 25 different states to donate and deliver products to natural disaster victims. In Kentucky, Andrew Dunn, 14, encourages people to complete acts of kindness and organizes community events through his Random Acts of Kindness Louisville organization. Fifteen-year-old Caleb White is fighting homelessness in Detroit by raising money; so far, the Caleb White Project has donated more than $300,000 and enlisted 3,500 volunteers to clean and repair facilities around the city.
The Nickelodeon HALO Awards 2017 will be held in New York City and will air Nov. 26 at 7 p.m ET/PT on Nickelodeon, TeenNick, and Nicktoons.
