Nick Gives Inspiring Speech at Scholastic Art & Writing Awards (video)

Nick attended the Scholastic Art Writing Awards on Friday (May 6) at Carnegie Hall in New York City. He joined the likes of Zac Posen and First Lady Michelle Obama (who opened the show via video message) in recognizing and giving accolades to the artistic and writing talents of youth ranging from grades 6-12.

When Nick walked out his song “Looking For A Dream” began to play. It was an unexpected surprise to which Nick told the audience “That was a big moment for me. I never thought my song would be playing in Carnegie, silly music like I make so that was kinda cool. Thank you Billie.”

Nick closed out the show which was telecast live via the web. During his inspiring and touching speech he encouraged the young creatives to never giving up by relating his own story of failure at young age that he decided to use as fuel which led to him a short time later becoming the youngest staff writer in television history.
